Origine géographique : l’espèce est endémique de Californie et présente dans deux zones del'Etat, une population dans le Nord-ouest, au Nord de Redding et une autre dans à l'Est de Fresno, près du Parc naturel de la Vallée de la mort ; ces deux zones disjointes sont distantes d'environ 500 km. L'espèce pousse entre 1500 et 2000 m d'altitude.
